Tangerine Releases New Single 'Chains' Image

Today, LA-via-Seattle indie pop trio Tangerine - Korean-American sisters Marika & Miro Justad and Tobias Kuhn - released the expansive and brooding love song "Chains" via NYLON. They are also celebrating a west coast tour kick off tonight in their hometown Seattle at Chop Suey - full dates here.

Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Kate Bush, and Enya, lead singer Marika explains, "As the song unfolds, it's shifting back and forth between different meanings: one minute, I'm telling the object of my affection that love could be ours if we can overcome doubt and hesitation, but at other times it's about 'finding out the hard way' that love is yours whether you want it to be or not."

Earlier last year, Tangerine released dream pop singles "Cherry Red" and "Local Mall" from their White Dove EP. Produced by Sanj & Luca Buccellati (Tei Shi), it's an 80s guitar-laced pop album about yearning, nostalgia, female friendship & the messiness of finding yourself in your 20s.

Marika, Miro and Tobias have been making music together since childhood. In 2017, Tangerine moved from Seattle to Los Angeles to pursue music full time, recording singles "Fever Dream" and "Sly Moon" - produced by Michael Shuman (Queens of the Stone Age, Mini Mansions) and Zach Dawes (Mini Mansions) - and touring the U.S. with Bleachers.
