The Madison Square Garden Company and The Bowery Presents have announced that THE THE will take the Beacon Theatre stage on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 8:00PM. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 6 at noon.
Helmed by singer and songwriter Matt Johnson, THE THE have announced their first live shows in 16 years. The last THE THE album, 2000's "NakedSelf," capped off a remarkable run of records, including Johnson's solo debut "Burning Blue Soul" (1981) and THE THE's "Soul Mining" (1983), "Infected" (1986), "Mind Bomb" (1989) and "Dusk" (1993). The last earned Johnson an enduring reputation as a brave and uncompromising artist dealing with both the dark matters of the heart and prescient sociopolitical commentary.
In 2017, THE THE released a new single, "We Can't Stop What's Coming," their first new song in 15 years, as part of 2017's Record Store Day. Additionally, in October 2017, they released the "Radio Cineola: Trilogy" box set. The first biography of THE THE entitled "Long Shadows, High Hopes," written by Neil Fraser and fully authorized by Johnson, will be published by Omnibus Press on June 7, 2018.
Tickets are on sale Friday, April 6, 2018 at noon and will be available through Ticketmaster Charge by Phone (1-866-858-0008) and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets are available in person at the MSG, Radio City Music Hall and Beacon Theatre Box Offices beginning Saturday, April 7.
