Next year, City Parks Foundation's flagship SummerStage venue in Central Park will be transformed, complete with a new stage, new sound system, increased lighting, upgraded backstage areas, raised seating, and an improved concert-going experience for all guests. What won't change is SummerStage's mission to present iconic and emerging artists from widely diverse genres that reflect the framework of New York City. "We are thrilled to unveil our new venue for our 2019 season and are excited to be ushering in a new era of City Parks Foundation's SummerStage with a venue that has been planned holistically, one that enhances both the audience's and the artists' experience. SummerStage has been presenting well-known and emerging artists - free of charge - for more than 30 years," Executive Director Heather Lubov explains. "We remain committed to providing all New Yorkers with world-class live performances in the most welcoming and contemporary setting possible, and look forward to continuing to make memories at SummerStage for many years to come."

The updated venue will feature improved backstage accommodations with new greenrooms, a private viewing area for artists and guests, upgraded dressing rooms with showers, and a backstage patio area. The renovation also includes improved ADA access and traffic flow plus raised bleacher seating throughout, in addition to new concession areas and upgraded VIP and private entertaining areas.

SummerStage is New York City's largest, free outdoor performing arts festival, taking place in Central Park and in 15-18 neighborhood parks around the city each summer, presenting nearly 100 performances - the majority of which are free of charge - for 200,000+ audiences annually.
