Summer Kicks Off At The Nash This June!  ImageSummer at The Nash is in full swing as the live concert venue and education center kicks off its programs. Students will be learning new techniques from top instructors each week at The Nash Summer Workshops while bright young emerging artists arrive to showcase their incredible talents for The Nash Emerging Artist Series (Formerly Catch A Rising Star) kicking off June 29 with piano/bass player Ellis Green.

The Nash also hosts a return Special Engagement of Mayu Saeki on June 13, following her stunning appearance at the Japan Meets Jazz concert with Lewis Nash earlier this year. The Nash is located at 110 E. Roosevelt St on Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix.Advance tickets are on sale at www.thenash.org or may be purchased at the door. Please note: some shows sell out in advance so it is recommended to order early.

Alice Tatum-vocals, Nicole Pesce-piano, Bob Lashier-bass, Todd Chuba-drums Alice Tatum is an award winning and critically acclaimed singer who has been a fixture on the Phoenix music scene for more than 30 years. She is an accomplished jazz vocalist, as well as excelling in pop music genres. Alice has performed with greats such as Michael McDonald, Tom Scott, The Righteous Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Alice Cooper and Nancy Wilson. She has sung on national commercials, TV, and film, as well as on her own three CD projects. Alice always puts on a dynamic show with amazing vocal range.

Every Sunday the true spirit of jazz plays out on stage at The Nash, as student and pro musicians play together, unrehearsed, in a variety of combinations. There's always a solid core trio. Student jazz musicians are welcome, with house band, grand piano, guitar and bass amp, drum set and sound all provided. Singers welcome. Event open to all ages! Great opportunities for audiences to enjoy 3 hours of jazz.

The public is invited to hear some of the best players in the Valley and beyond as they enjoy this essential tradition of jazz: the jam session, led by none other than world-renowned drummer and name-sake, Lewis Nash.

Alex Oliverio-guitar, Ben Hedquist-bass, Jacob Eary-drums Alex Oliverio is a native freelance musician. Alex began playing guitar at a young age and began studying Jazz after joining the Young Sounds of Arizona in 2009. He recently gained his bachelors degree in Jazz Performance at Arizona State University. During his time at Arizona State University, Alex competed in numerous composition competitions and succeeded in winning the student, faculty, and guest artist pick for separate compositions. Alex also performed extensively with the group Mudsaw at ASU. Alex now resides in Phoenix performing in many different group settings and hopes to attend Cal Arts.

Adam is an alumni of the ASU and MCC schools of music studying latin, african and jazz performance. Since 1995, Clark has been a professional musician and, starting in 1998, has led his live working band full time as well as working for hundreds of band leaders as a sideman. Adam has worked with jazz legends David "Fathead" Newman, Papa John DeFrancesco, Marshall Hawkins, Doug Webb, Stanley Jordan and accordion master Frank Marocco as well as popular artists Lenny Castro, Casey Abrams, Jimmy Vivino and gospel legend Andrew Gouche. He has been heard as the opening act for Blues Traveler, Vince Neil, Alice Cooper and Joey DeFrancesco.

Mayu Saeki-flutes, Nick Manson-piano, Mario Mendivil-bass, John Lewis-drums Special guest: Carol Mellis-flute Flautist/composer Mayu Saeki returns to The Nash after her captivating performance during the Japan meets Jazz Show with Lewis Nash in March. This engagement celebrates Mayu's debut recording, Hope (available on Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records). Hope tells the story of Saeki's journey to NYC from her native Tokyo. There she left a complete life for an uncertain future in New York City.
