Street Sects Premiere Seven-Minute Standout Track 'In Prison, At Least I Had You'

Austin, TX duo Street Sects have returned with a forward-thinking and uncompromising 12-inch record titled Rat Jacket. The 4-song release follows 2016's critically acclaimed LP End Position, but if that album was a bullet to the head, then Rat Jacket is a knife in the back. Listen now via Revolver Magazine

"Although all four songs on Rat Jacket touch upon some aspect of betrayal, 'In Prison, At Least I Had You' feels the most personal and specific as to what I was trying to say lyrically on this EP," says Street Sects vocalist Leo Ashline. Listen to the track now via Revolver Magazine.

While Rat Jacket is not exactly a follow-up to End Position, it still maintains the sample-based foundation that is the core of the band's sound; the songs here experiment with melody and organic instrumentation. Thematically, the record deals with loyalty, trust, betrayal, paranoia, and the sadness and regret that comes with the acceptance of our own selfish nature. Rat Jacket represents a brief step to the side, an intentional detour from their previous output.

The 4-song 12inch Rat Jacket is due out October 6 on The Flenser; catch Street Sects on tour this fall with hip-hop/noise pioneers Dälek:
