Straight from Sundance, Utkarsh Ambudkar Releases Video for Standout Track RUNDOWN Image

Utkarsh Ambudkar takes narrative into his own hands with the release of album standout-track "Rundown," the first track off his debut album Vanity, out now. "Rundown" bridges the gap between the Baltimore native's crossover from mainstream to conscious rap. "Rundown" is the embodiment of the message of the album, touching on subjects which inlcude race, politics, and (perceived) celebrity status. "And everyone wondering who the f's this Indian; yo, who the f is this Indian...," said First-generation immigrant Utkarsh on the first verse, juxtaposing between feelings of exclusion and isolation and a sense of hope and resolution. "They look at him and say 'why isn't he wearing a Turbin'; well, motherfer that's some pretty sty observing."

Channeling his raw emotion, Utkarsh strikes a nerve with his listeners in the form of honest perspective. Utkarsh has lived to his fullest potential in Hollywood through his slew of roles in TV shows such as The Mindy Project and Brockmire, as well as movies like Pitch Perfect, Ride Along 2, Showtimes, White Famous, The Problem With Apu, The Barbershop 3 and his newest film Brittany Runs A Marathon, which premiered at this year's Sundance. In addition, Utkarsh will be featured in the upcoming film Disney's Live Action Mulan. Aside from acting, Utkarsh was part of the collaborative hip-hop group "The Beatards", but has since spread his wings to branch out as a solo artist and lend a hand in other musical projects. With the release of Vanity, Utkarsh has laid down the foundation to elevate his celebrity status in the music industry in 2019 to the heights of his already storied film and television career. Tearing down the 'glass ceiling', there's no end in sight for UtKarsh.
