Today, 2x Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Steve Aoki teams up with multi-platinum selling hip-hop recording artist Lil Yachty and certified platinum pop group AJR to release his latest single, which is a power pop collab titled "Pretender."

The uptempo song showcases Aoki's signature style of bringing together A-list collaborators across different genres to the electronic world. "Pretender" incorporates a catchy hook from the indie pop band AJR and Yachty's melodic, unmistakable vocals, over Aoki's party-ready groove overlaid with lush atmospherics.

"I've been so excited to finally release Pretender. Worked with two of my favorite artists that are pushing culture in their own way," said Aoki. "You get a mix of all of our genres in this smash. Hope you love it as much as I loved producing it."

"We tried to write Pretender as this weird anthem for the insecure. My own social anxiety is something we've wanted to write about for a while, and it seemed like a very cool contrast to pair it with Steve Aoki's EDM sound and Lil Yachty's Hip-Hop sound," said Ryan from AJR.

The track's lyrics speak to perception vs. reality when it comes to the sensationalized personalities we create for everyday consumption on social media.
