Hailing from Richmond, VA, Spooky Cool is a five-piece band made up of Zac Hryciak(lead vocalist, guitarist), Lee Spratley (drummer), Sean Williams (bassist), Paula Lavelle(vocalist), and Zavi Harman (lead guitarist). Founded in 2015, the band quickly made a name for themselves in the local Richmond scene, playing with the likes of Lucy Dacus, J.Roddy Waltson, Girlpool, Post-Animal, and Palm.
In anticipation of the release of their debut EP Every Thing Ever this Friday, August 3rdon Citrus City Records, the EP is available to stream in full with Substream Magazineahead of its release. About the EP, frontman Zac Hryciak comments: "In using the fuel of the dream state to parallel the waking life's existential and romantic conundrums this delineation of a single night of successive nightmares in the shadow of unrequited love is the outset of a project that we could not be more proud of. 'Every Thing Ever' is the culmination of three years of change and pertinacity in the face of relentless hindrances and we're beyond elated to finally send it out into the void."
The kaleidoscopic five-track collection includes previously released singles "Black Wine" (via Heavy Blog Is Heavy), "Old Hair Mine" (via Culture Collide) and "Strange Rooms" (viaNew Noise Magazine). Fusing post-punk and metal-fuzz influences, the project was recorded with Michael Satterfield, mixed by Collin Pastore (Lucy Dacus), and mastered by Jett Galindo (First Aid Kit, Moon Taxi). A testament of the band's distinct artistry and sophisticated musicianship, Spooky Cool unflaggingly mixes the mundane with the extraordinary in their debut EP. Beginning Friday, fans in select cities on the east coast will have the chance to catch them live - see below for a full list of tour dates!
