Sony/ATV Music Publishing has today completed the landmark feat of having published or co-published the No. 1 single in the UK each week for an entire year. With Sony/ATV songwriter Ed Sheeran securing his ninth consecutive week at the top in the new Official Singles Chart announced today (March 10) with "Shape Of You", the world's leading music publisher has now been represented on the No. 1 single for each of the last 52 weeks.

This stunning achievement dates back to March 2016 when Sony/ATV's Mike Posner spent the first of four weeks at No. 1 with his single "I Took A Pill In Ibiza". Every week since then the company has published or co-published the No. 1 single, a run which includes Drake featuring Wizkid and Kyla's 15-week chart-topper "One Dance" and No. 1 hits by Major Lazer/Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, James Arthur, Little Mix, Clean Bandit and Ed Sheeran.

Sony/ATV reaches the landmark year-long run at No. 1 in what is a momentous week for its songwriter Ed Sheeran. He not only extends his stay at the top of the singles chart to nine weeks with "Shape Of You", but also uniquely occupies nine positions in the Top 10, including the entire top six, and 16 of the Top 20 songs. This dominance is unprecedented in the 64-year history of the chart. On the albums chart his third studio set ÷ has entered at No. 1 with one of the highest first-week sales totals of all time, while his second album X is at No. 4 and debut album + at No. 5.

Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said: "We can't underestimate this incredible accomplishment. It's difficult enough to have one No. 1 but 52 weeks or a solid one year is unheard of. It proves our global approach to music with a strong local A&R presence is a successful strategy."

Guy Moot, Sony/ATV UK Managing Director and President, European Creative, said: "To have been part of the No. 1 single in the UK for an entire year is an amazing achievement by Sony/ATV and it's a nice bonus that we got there in Ed's record-breaking week. We are lucky enough to work with Ed and so many other incredible songwriters and I'm particularly pleased that this run highlights the diversity of our roster from emerging and established homegrown talent to international superstars."
