Melbourne, Australia's Slow Dancer - aka the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Simon Okely - is thrilled to be following the June release of his ATO Records debut In A Mood with his first-ever headlining US tour, beginning at NYC's Mercury Lounge on September 18. He will also be sharing the stage with ATO label mates Margaret Glaspy at sets in Boston and Holyoke, Massachusetts as well as a run of European shows with Hurray For The Riff Raff in October.

In anticipation of the shows and with a re-press of his debut album Surrender now availableHERE via ATO, watch a previously unseen performance of the Surrender track "Took The Floor Out" filmed at Melbourne's Newmarket Studios HERE, courtesy of GoldFlakePaint.
Noisey has described In A Mood as "an album that seeps into your consciousness ... and creates a blanket of sound, each layer blending smoothly, a sonic gradient of guitar, organ, strings, bass, and vocals." The album alsoshowcases Slow Dancer's masterful ability to blend '60s and '70s inspired songs with R&B-tinged melodies, delivered with a smooth, soulful and sun-kissed touch.
Okely began writing as Slow Dancer in 2014, naming the project after a lyric from a song on Surrender that was "essentially an instruction manual for slow dancing with someone who is experiencing apathy. I really liked the sentiment, and thought it fit quite well with the overall sound." The record elevated him to a Triple J Artist To Watch and one of NME's 20 Bands You Need To Check Out.
Okely's aim with the songs featured on In A Mood and the next chapter as Slow Dancer is similarly simple: "This has always been my journal, my love letter to the music I love. My concentration will always be on making the music that pleases me, and if it pleases other people too, that's also great. It's been a wonderful ride so far."
