Oklahoma City-formed and Tacoma-based Skating Polly is stoked to announce a US headlining tour this Spring, including stops at Victory Lounge in Seattle, NYC's St. Vitus and the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles - tickets for all dates are on sale Friday, March 3rd. To coincide with the tour announcement, the band has also released a new music video for "Cosmetic Skull" off of 2016's critically acclaimed album The Big Fit that made NPR's Heavy Rotation and had Noisey stating "Skating Polly's music is as barbed and cutting as the braces on their teeth. Raised on riot grrrl and root beer in the red-state Bible Belt."
Cosmetic Skull is about ditching the materialistic people and materialistic things in your life for real people and real moments. The chorus is tongue-in-cheek. The words out of context would sound like someone giving up and just sticking with these things, but sandwiched between the verses actually are saying "nope, not me".
The band - stepsisters Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse who are now joined full-time by their brother Kurtis Mayo - are excited to hit the road this spring as they gear up for the release of a new EP! The girls teamed up with Nina and Louise of Veruca Salt to write and record some new songs this past fall that they will unleash on the world shortly after they hit the road!
Watch their new video for "Cosmetic Skull" below and be sure to stay tuned towww.skatingpolly.com for more information on their forthcoming EP.
