Shuffleboard Records Recording Artist SIX VOLT has proudly announced a joint partnership with the After-School All-Stars organization(www.afterschoolallstars.org) and welcomes them as their official 2010 "YOUTH ROCKS LIVE" charity.
This nonprofit, started by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and represented by celebrity ambassador, Kobe Bryant, provides free comprehensive after- school programs to nearly 80,000 children in over 450 schools, in 13 different cities including Oahu, Hawaii. In helping to fund development of music programs throughout After-School All-Stars in each of its 13 cities, SIX VOLT will donate 5% of all merchandise sales to the charity during their 23 city SIMON MALL TOUR which is sponsored by the Youth Arts Forum (youthartsforum.org) and Paul ReEd Smith Guitars (prsguitars.com). In addition to SIX VOLT's donations, along the course of the tour, the band will have After-School All-Stars kids participate as a SIX VOLT "Roadie For The Day"."We are thrilled with what Six Volt is doing for After-School All-Stars students." said Ben Paul, President and CEO of After-School All-Stars. "Our music programs are popular with the children, with some never having picked up an instrument in their entire lives. Our program allows them to explore their musical talents, and this new opportunity with Six Volt gives them a peek into the music industry as well."
"We understand the importance of having the kids be as much of a part of these events as possible to learn a new business skill and have a sense of accomplishment, and fun!," said Granger Whitelaw, Jr. guitarist for SIX VOLT. Each volunteer will leave with a signed SIX VOLT EP, signed t-shirt and hopefully the experience of a lifetime.
