"NOLA Night" at Stamford's Palace Theatre on May 29th at 8 PM will feature the unique sounds and rhythms of New Orleans in the intimate setting UPSTAGE @ The Palace. Luke Winslow-King and Mia Borders embody the diverse and soulful melting pot of the New Orleans music scene. Some of the best performances of the city's famous Jazz Fest are the small, unofficial shows played by local artists. In this case, we've "imported" two incredible musicians and songwriters direct from New Orleans to give Stamford a taste of the Big Easy!

"New Orleans has such a special and distinct musical character that definitely appeals to the Fairfield County community," said series curator and Palace Board Member Meredith DiMenna. "We wanted to highlight the singer-songwriters of that region who will find a captive listening audience in the intimate Showcase 61 space UPSTAGE @ The Palace."

Known for his slide guitar work and interest in traditional Jazz, Luke Winslow-King's music consists of an eclectic mix, taking in delta folk music, classical composition, ragtime, and rock 'n roll; juxtaposing original songs with those from a bygone era. American Songwriter says his latest album, The Coming Tide, "brews up his own brand of neo-traditionalist gumbo" and is "a record that rolls the eclectic sounds of the Big Easy into a single track list."

With her endlessly soulful voice, richly emotional songwriting and undeniable style, Mia Borders embodies the spirit of her hometown of New Orleans where she is heralded both locally and nationally as one of the city's best talents. The Washington Examiner says Borders is "a young woman steeped in a gumbo of funk, rock and soul; a style all her own, one that belies her years on this Earth."

The show will take place UPSTAGE @ The Palace Theatre in Stamford, a new downtown club-like venue. Dubbed a "listening experience," SHOWCASE 61 recreates a New York club setting, complete with special lighting, custom-designed tablecloths, a full bar with specialty cocktails from Berkshire Mountain Distillers and unique brews from Berkshire Brewing Company, as well as the option to order food, delivered to your table, via a mobile app from Station Eats.

Admission is FREE for this event but seating is LIMITED. You can reserve your spot online at SCAlive.org or by calling the box office at 203-325-4466. Discount parking at only $3 is located directly across the street from The Palace Theatre in the Landmark Square Garage. See SCALIVE.ORG for details.
