It was one year ago today that media personality Shefik launched his nationally syndicated radio show, Shefik presents Invocation. Since its inception, the terrestrial radio show has won a total of 16 industry awards for its accompanying website at invocation.co, as well as the radio show itself. The website serves as a conduit for discussion of the show, while highlighting related videos and auxiliary content.

Legendary recording artists, such as 5-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick, 2-time Oscar Nominee and Grammy Award winner Siedah Garrett, Tony Award winner and 4-time Grammy Award nominee Melba Moore, Grammy Award winner Gerald Alston of The Manhattans, Sonny Turner (former lead singer of The Platters), as well as many other notable personalities have all appeared on Shefik presents Invocation. A highlight of an episode featured an appearance by the Crown Prince of Italy, His Royal Highness Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy.

Shefik presents Invocation is a mesmerizing and thought-provoking journey through musical discovery and appreciation that spans the decades. Each one-hour episode highlights one relatable focal point (chosen by Shefik), along with an accompanying playlist of songs (curated by Shefik), encompassing a unique thematic concept that invigorates the audience with creative impact.

A wide spectrum of actors, business executives, politicians, community leaders, and other special guests offer their own commentary on the weekly topic, as a supplement to Shefik's engaging mindset.

"The response has been overwhelming," declares Shefik. "I'm proud of the work that my team and I have accomplished in such a short time span. I especially would like to thank Head Writer Frank McIntyre, who is a vital asset in the conception of my message."

Initially, Shefik secured a syndication deal with Syndication Networks Corporation to create, host, and produce a weekly show for terrestrial radio. From there, he launched Shefik presents Invocation on 20 radio stations and frequencies throughout the United States. That number quickly increased to 22 radio stations and frequencies.

From the onset, all of Shefik's interview segments are shot in-person, and on video. The audio is extracted from each interview segment and broadcast in the radio show, whereas the videos are broadcast via various distribution outlets. For video distribution, Shefik has secured deals with Amazon Video Direct, FUBU Television Network, Audio Fuzz, Black Westchester, and Focus Broadcasting Network. Videos are also posted via channels at YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Medium.

"I intentionally created a platform which can be thoroughly segmented and enjoyed across varying mediums, without having the end user lost in translation," explains Shefik. "Although the optimal experience is achieved when a user listeners to a one-hour episode of the radio show in its entirety, each isolated segment - whether audio or video - emphasizes profound meaning."

Shefik presents Invocation broadcasted its premiere episode during the week of July 4, 2016, with "Revolution" as the designated topic. During the current week of July 4, 2017, a supplementary episode on the topic - titled "Revolution 2" - has been designated. A special guest of this particular episode features Michael Alig.

Alig is an artist, party promoter, musician, and writer, who served almost 17 years in prison for manslaughter. He was a co-founder and ringleader of the Club Kids, a group of young New York City clubgoers that became a cultural phenomenon during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

In March 1996, Alig and his roommate, Robert D. "Freeze" Riggs, accidentally killed fellow Club Kid Andre "Angel" Melendez in a confrontation over a delinquent debt, during a substance-fueled week. In October 1997, Alig pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter. Both men were sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison. Riggs was released on parole in 2010, and Alig was released on May 5, 2014.

Alig spent his youth in conservative South Bend, Indiana, eventually becoming the wildly inventive "King of the Club Kids" of New York in his early 20s. He was a regular guest on national television shows, such as "The Phil Donahue Show", "Geraldo", and "The Joan Rivers Show".

"With the type of show I produce, I invite people from all walks of life to be a part of the journey, sharing personal and compelling experiences," says Shefik. "I am documenting the human condition, and compartmentalizing it, in a manner that allows each guest to first define their own perception of meaning. It is through this exchange of perception that we aim to learn from one another, and conceive a greater sense of understanding."
