Sliders and milk shakes, a classic car show, "Greaser" and "Pink Lady" costume contests and the incomparable Sha Na Na in their doo-wop and rock 'n' roll concert will mark the 35th Anniversary of the ever popular movie Grease, at The Ridgefield Playhouse tonight, April 25, at 8 p.m.

In the John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John epic, Sha Na Na performed as "Johnny Casino and the Gamblers", and they are well known for their hits "Blue Moon", "We Go Together", "You're the One That I Want", "Whole Lotta' Shakin' Goin' On" and many more. In an interactive evening where the audience sings and dances along and participates in a "Greaser Olympics", this is a great show for the entire family to enjoy together. The fun starts at 7 p.m. in the parking lot with the cars and a costume contest! The "best dressed" will get their picture taken with Sha Na Na. Bistro 7 (Ethan Allen Highway, Wilton) will pour a free glass of house wine with dinner the night of this event when tickets are presented. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d'oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show by calling the box office (203-438-5795). This event is partially underwritten by Ace Tire & Auto Center and is part of the Xfinity Rock Series.

The Ridgefield Playhouse event is sure to get people up and out of their seats dancing! Sha Na Na's show will be a dynamic event that highlights their four-decade journey from Woodstock, Grease and their TV show as well as their worldwide tour stops. The audience gets to twist, stroll and hand jive to the classics as performed by the crowned princes of doo-wop and rock & roll, a "competition" in which a good time will be had by all ages.

When the guys in Sha Na Na were in college at Columbia University in 1969, they combined their love for the Rock & Roll classics with a dynamic theatrical approach. This summer marks the 45th anniversary of Sha Na Na's appearance at The Woodstock Festival. Never content to rest on their laurels, Sha Na Na just released Sha Na Na Greaser High School Hop, which features 25 signature songs that create an instant high school hop dance party. "The Bop", "The Twist", "The Stroll", "The Hand Jive", "The Monkey", "The Jerk", "The Cha Cha" and even "The Hokey Pokey" are among the great dances of the '50s and '60s celebrated in this collection. Also included are songs they sang in the movie Grease ("Sandy", "Rock & Roll is Here to Stay"), The Sha Na Na TV Show ("Rock & Roll Hall of Fame", "You Can't Sit Down") and at Woodstock ("At The Hop").

For tickets ($40), call or visit the box office at (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
