The grunge phenomenon Selene Vigil, premieres single "Battery Street Tunnel" today via New Noise Mag. The 7-Year Bitch singer returns with more music previewing her cutting-edge album Tough Dance, available November 17th. As time goes by, so does the growth of Selene's dominant career as she sparks up a bold punk sound. Continuing her rock and roll legacy, Selene's brand new single shows off her power of lyrics mixed with the freedom of Ben London's guitar.
In her words "Battery Street Tunnel" is about, "fighting your own worst impulses...for a change."
Overall, Selene reflects, "Tough Dance is a record of reckoning. Things may not always turn out the way we plan, but there's no reason to go quietly. It's the perfect record for dancing, drinking, ...or packing your bags. 'Battery Street Tunnel' provides a blast of punky magic while lamenting the cost of letting go."
Produced by Ryan Leyva, Tough Dance feels uniquely fresh and familiar at the same time. Vigil's vocals are immediately recognizable but have a new confidence that only a life lived can provide. The music is at times driven by powerful riffs and on songs like "Sha La La" Vigil balances her throaty delivery with a sweet" girl group" wink of the eye.
The Stranger's Dave Segal says, "Selene Vigil returns with a solid gut-punch of a rock song that won't disappoint her old band's hardcore following... Vigil's bravura vocals, "Sha La La" scorches with a calculated causticity, evoking Seattle rock's '90s halcyon nights".
