Comedian, singer and actress Scout Durwood recently released Take One Thing Off via Blue Élan Records. Now, in preparation of the upcoming summer wedding season, Scout is thrilled to share her video for "Wedding", an unapologetic history lesson on the ritual of matrimony and warning for what to expect over the next three months.
Backed by a spoken word song with a killer beat, the half-animated video explores the concept of weddings. Creating a split personality between the rational on-looker and the bridezilla-to-be, Scout goes through every tradition from only the bride wearing white, bridesmaid dresses, cake tasting, destination weddings, wedding gifts and more.
"Weddings suck," says Scout. "They're expensive, you have to travel far away to hang out with old people that you're never going to see again, and monogamy is for suckers. My friend had a big wedding, and when she posted her stupid photos online, I wrote this song. To all the bride and goom-zillas out there and to anyone who's on the fence about having the confidence to just say no when your best friend invites you to their destination wedding in Mexico, this one's for you."
Produced by Dave
Darling (Def Leppard, Queen Latifah, Tom Waits, Brian Setzer), Take One Thing Off intermingles Scout's standup with pop music, taking you on her journey of moving to LA from NYC.
Scout Durwood turned heads as a main character on MTV's 2016 breakout Mary + Jane executive produced by
Snoop Dogg as well as Oxygen'sFunny Girls. The Hollywood Reporter claimed, "Durwood commits with gusto," Vogue called her, "Brazen, brass," and The Los
Angeles Times lauded the series', "sharp satirical observations about stoner culture, celebrity, the Silver Lake lifestyle, and female friendships."
