Known for their fearless experimentation and artistry, Brooklyn post-everything band Sannhet have come to meet and exceed expectations with the release of their third LP So Numb. Having already released the video for the track Salts last month- a striking video that echoes the album's themes of addiction and affliction- a new interview with The Independent focuses in part on the visual aesthetic of Sannhet - a band that says so much without the use of lyrics. Bassist AJ Annunziata talks about the inspirations and personal experiences that paved the way for So Numb, leading The Independent to describe the record as "a powerful representation of the band's internal conflicts, the original wound, self-destruction and the redemptive qualities they continue to seek for the rest of their lives."
So Numb ushers in a more open sound for Sannhet, offering a more wistful, melodic approach to the band's intrepid metal-influenced epics. Treading through byzantine emotional landscapes, So Numb traverses an emotional landscape, and builds a world from a grain of sand, crafting complex narratives with mere sound.
Always difficult to classify,
Sannhet remains on of music's most enigmatic bands. Since 2010, the trio's played instrumental music that's both heavy and feathery, pictorial but intimate, dense yet minimal. Since their inception,
Sannhet toured the United States several times over with the likes of Liturgy, King Woman,
A Place To Bury Strangers and more, and have played highly coveted sets at Basilica Sounscape, Northside Festival, Hopscotch Festival, Tinnitus Music Series, NXNE and so on.
