Former American Idol finalist Sanjaya Malakar drops his new single "Tempted" from his upcoming full length album Life ~ Love ~ Music. Sanjaya's version is an R&B cover of the 1981 original pop song performed by Squeeze, and is produced by Larry Russell, former Billy Joel bass player and current New York City music producer at Muzikjakit Productions. "Tempted" will be available for purchase through iTunes and www.SanjayaMalakar.com on Tuesday, May 24, and through Amazon and most online retailers after June 1.
Sanjaya will be releasing more music this summer along with live tour dates as he headlines The State of Independence Tour - along with Portland Oregon band Brave Chandeliers and special guests. The tour kicks off July 3 in Tacoma, Washington.
Sanjaya Malakar was first introduced to America in 2006 as a top 7 Finalist on Season 6 of American Idol. At the age of 16, Sanjaya performed at the open auditions for the show in Seattle. He was one of few chosen to advance from open auditions to "Hollywood Week". Sanjaya performed well during Hollywood Week, impressing Idol Judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. Sanjaya was selected to the Top 24 and continued on American Idol, ultimately finishing seventh overall. Along the way, Sanjaya's electric personality, memorable hairstyles and amazing performances propelled him into national and international fame as perhaps the most iconic Idol contestant of all time.
Currently, Sanjaya is busy writing and recording his own original music for his debut album Life~Love~Music set to release later this year. He is excited to share his music while he continues to develop his career as an artist and entertainer in his own unique style.
