Australian-born, LA-based musician Sam Fischer is preparing to release his debut Not A Hobby EP on Friday, January 19th. In anticipation, he shares new single "Smoke" with Spindle Magazine. Featuring a jazzy, soulful melody and a rhythmic beat, the track was produced by Jamie Hartman (Rag'n'Bone Man) and co-written with Lindy Robbins (Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Hudson, Brittney Spears).
Sam comments, "I wrote this song on 4/20 while smoking Willie Nelson's homegrown weed with Jamie Hartman and Lindy Robbins. My younger brother had just told me that he recently smoked with our mum and I was jealous as hell (because my mum is rad af). So I wrote a song about smoking weed with my mum and enjoying the simple moments in a life we tend to take too seriously!"
Bolstered by the touches of Grammy-winning producer Warren "Oak" Felder (Alessia Cara, Kehlani, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj) as well as many other contributors, the Not A Hobby EP will give fans a first look at the talents of the Berklee trained musician who has worked with the likes of HOLYCHILD, DJ Mustard, Clean Bandit,
Sabrina Claudio, and Jennifer Hudson. "Smoke" is the third single off of the four-track EP coming next week. Previously, Fischer released "Same Friends" with Billboard alongside its accompanying video, as well as "Getting Older," which was selected for Spotify's New Music Friday and premiered with NYLON.
Sam Fischer first burst onto the scene in 2016 with the release of his debut single Lean" which premiered with Stereogum and has garnered over 300,000 streams. Earlier this year, he featured on Opia's "Secrets," amassing over 1 million streams. Be sure to stay tuned for the full EP coming soon!
