Sam Fischer Shares 'Getting Older' w/ NYLON + Announces Debut EP Image

Australian-born, LA-based musician Sam Fischer announces his debut EP Not A Hobby slated for release on January 19th. Today, he shares a new single titled "Getting Older" with NYLON alongside an intimate live performance of the track with Mahogany Sessions. Available now on all digital platforms, the track is highlighted by Fischer's soulful, R&B-flecked vocals, and was produced by Morgan Taylor Reid.

He comments, "Getting Older is my favorite song off the EP and is as honest as I get. Simply put, the lyrics are just a retelling of the day we (myself, Asia Whiteacre, Morgan Taylor Reid & Johan Fransson) wrote the song, including the bird story. It's a stream of consciousness put to music about the uncertainties of the future and what we can't control, yet worry about constantly."

Growing up in the Northern suburbs of Sydney, Sam began writing music at the age of 12 and became formally trained in both the violin and saxophone. Following a move to the US, he graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2014 and dove head-first into the music scene as a vocalist for HOLYCHILD. A prolific songwriter, his talents have led him to co-write for the likes of DJ Mustard, Clean Bandit, Sabrina Claudio, and Jennifer Hudson.

"Getting Older" follows the release of Fischer's debut singles "Lean" and "Same Friends" which earned praise from the likes of Stereogum, Billboard, ELLE and more. To date, he has garnered over 400,000 streams and his feature on Opia's "Secrets," has amassed over 1 million streams.
