The music series SOUNDSCAPES makes its debut this season, and promises to be an innovative, gripping and vibrant addition to New York City's musical landscape. And there's a special play on paying it forward here: Each concert benefits a vital cultural, educational or social organization.

About the new series, conductor, flutist and SOUNDSCAPES artistic director Paul Lustig Dunekl says: "I've played chamber music at Marlboro and backed up jazz musicians. I've performed under Stokowski, Stravinsky and Bernstein and in recording dates with major pop stars. I've premiered works that won Pulitzer Prizes and conducted the classics. I've been lucky to have worked in a city that embraces all varieties of music next to musicians who play any style you'd want to hear. SOUNDSCAPES will reflect that diversity."

SOUNDSCAPES opens the season on October 17, 2011 at 8 pm with a concert to benefit the New York City Ballet Education Programs; principal musicians of the New York City Ballet Orchestra join Dunkel in performances of the Haydn Trio in C Major for two flutes and cello; theVilla-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras No. 6 for flute and bassoon; Beethoven's Serenade Op. 20 in D Major for flute, violin and viola; Debussy's Sonata for flute, viola and harp; and the Mozart Quartet in C Major for flute, violin, viola and cello.

Performed by the brilliant virtuosi of our city's classical and jazz community at the acoustically marvelous Christ and St. Stephen's Church, (120 West 69th Street between Broadway and Columbus), this season's presentations feature traditional works in original versions, World Premiere's by Rob Smith, Tony Moreno, Tamar Muskal and Linda Rodgers Emory, and New York City premieres of Paul Lustig Dunkel's Casey at the Bat: An American Cantata and Pierre Jalbert's Crossings.

The series is funded through private donations. Tickets for general admissions are $30, but by purchasing benefit tickets through the sites of the beneficiary organizations, attendees will contribute to the efforts of several important cultural and educational institutions.

Advance single tickets and subscriptions are available at http://www.paullustigdunkel.com/index.cfm?pagename=store Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
