SONG OF THE MOUNTAINS Features Kaitlyn Baker and Reagan Boggs Tonight

Country music recording artists Kaitlyn Baker and Reagan Boggs will perform on the same stage for first time, when they tape the nationally Syndicated television concert series "Song of the Mountains" in Marion, Virginia, tonight, June 7. Tickets are available through the program's website, www.songofthemountains.org.

Baker and Boggs, both from the coal mining town of Pound, Virginia, bring similar influences to their music, while retaining their own unique styles. Boggs' current album "Quicksand" emerged in the top 40 of the Americana Music Chart, and has been receiving accolades from critics. Wayne Bledsoe of the Knoxville News Sentinel wrote, "Reagan Boggs is exactly what modern country radio is missing." Lee Zimmerman of NoDepression compared Boggs to such legendary singers as Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, describing her voice as "filtered through a mix of hard-wrought emotion and soothing sensitivity, the kind that breeds great balladry and stirs the senses simultaneously." Baker has performed professionally since the age of 7, and previously released three self-produced albums.

She recently signed with Silvercreek Records in Nashville and will soon release a new single titled "Burn," which will be followed by an album to be distributed through Sony/RED this summer. "Since both artists are from Pound, I thought it would be great to have them on the same episode," said Song of the Mountains host and producer Tim White. "They were influenced musically by growing up in Virginia's coal country. It will be interesting to hear and compare the stories they tell in their songs." "It's an honor to be included in 'Song of the Mountains,'" Baker added. "I love how the program features well-known artists, while also introducing viewers to new ones. It's more about great music than just who's famous."

Performances on "Song of the Mountains" are acoustic, in keeping with the show's emphasis on bluegrass and old-time music. Past performers have included such artists as the Lonesome River Band, Jimmy Fortune, Kathy Mattea, Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers and many more. In addition to Kaitlyn Baker and Reagan Boggs, the June 7 taping will include performances by bluegrass-gospel group Mark Templeton & Pocket Change, from High Point, North Carolina, and the Rose Sisters & Friends of Johnson City, Tennessee.
