Former Beatles member Ringo Starr will be knighted as part of the New Year's Honors according to Talk Entertainment. The 77 year-old rock star is to be recognized for his contributions to music and charity.
Since his early days with The Beatles, Ringo Starr has enjoyed a successful solo career as a singer, songwriter and drummer, drawing inspiration not only from rock, but also from blues, soul and honky-tonk. A nine-time GRAMMY winner and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (once as a member of The Beatles, and later as a solo artist), Starr has released 18 solo recordings that helped make him the first solo Beatle to score seven consecutive Top 10 singles, including "It Don't Come Easy," "Photograph," "Back Off Boogaloo," "You're Sixteen," and more.
Since 1989, Starr has toured the world with his live rock super-group, Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band, which features Todd Rundgren (Utopia), Gregg Rolie (Journey), Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister, Pages), Warren Ham (Bloodrock) and Gregg Bissonette.
