"She's a rebel in stilettos and an ever-present smile." (The Associated Press ) That is the iconic singer Darlene Love. An opportunity to see a rock 'n' roll legend and celebrate the holidays doesn't come around very often, but on Saturday, December 13, at 8 p.m., wishes come true when Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene brings her Holiday show to The Ridgefield Playhouse! From her first No. 1 recording, "He's A Rebel" through her string of hits including Phil Spector's legendary "Wall of Sound" hit factory ("Da Doo Ron Ron", "He's Sure The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" and "Christmas Baby Please Come Home"), to the countless songs for which Darlene sang backup for Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Dionne Warwick, Cher and Aretha Franklin, Darlene Love is still blazing a trail of success in the music industry! Darlene Love's performances retain all the power and richness of vocal tone that made her a legend among artists from a classic era of pop music. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, along with Alice Cooper and Neil Diamond. This event is part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway & Cabaret Series. Bernard's (20 West Lane, Ridgefield) is offering a special $45 prix-fixe menu, or a free glass of wine with dinner, the night of this event when tickets are presented; reservations suggested.
For tickets ($60 orchestra, $55 mezzanine/balcony), call the box office at (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT, ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
