Reservoir/Reverb Music announces the signing of award-winning songwriter, producer, and remixer Mich Hansen, pka Cutfather, to a worldwide publishing deal. The deal includes titles from Cutfather's prolific catalog, plus future works.
"It's a great pleasure to be re-united with Cutfather," says Reservoir/Reverb Music Managing Director Annette Barrett. "I originally signed Mich at Warner Chappell Music in the '90s, where he was one of their top writers. His continued success over the years is a testament to his talent and hard work. I am very excited to welcome him now to the Reservoir/Reverb Music family. We are all looking forward to working with him and continuing his unique success story."
Cutfather's international acclaim started in the late '80s, after launching a successful DJ career. His production work with
Queen Latifah led to a Grammy Nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance for her single, "Fly Girl" in 1992, and just a few years later, he earned a UK #1 for his wildly popular remix of Mark Morrison's "Return of the Mack". The single was a Top 10 hit in an additional ten countries worldwide, including a #2 record in the US. Furthermore, he co-wrote and co-produced the song "Superstar" performed by British recording artist Jamelia, which was the most performed song in the UK in 2003, and the fourth most performed song of the entire decade, earning Cutfather a prestigious Ivor
Novello Award.
Over the course of his 30-plus year career, Cutfather has collaborated with an extensive list of major talent including Kylie Minogue, Pussycat Dolls, Jordin Sparks, The Wanted, The Saturdays, Santana, Blue, and Christina Aguilera. He has written and/or produced seven #1 singles and over 50 Top 10 singles in the UK and four in the US, including Ace of Base's "Cruel Summer" and All Saints' "I Know Where It's At".
More recently, Cutfather co-wrote and produced "Up", performed by
Olly Murs and Demi Lovato, which was a Top 5 Platinum-certified hit in the UK and was featured on both Murs' and Lovato's albums.
Additional credits include a follow-up single with Murs, "Unpredictable", Matoma's "False Alarm" featuring Becky Hill, Little Mix's "Nothing Else Matters", Alex Newell's "Need Somebody" and Callum Scott's "Rhythm Inside", plus upcoming releases with pop groups
Why Don't We and Boyzone.
Adding to Cutfather's international demand as a collaborator, he organized and participated in a writing camp in Denmark last month, with 20 of the world's greatest songwriters. The experience was filmed and promoted by
Visit Denmark, the country's official tourism organization.
"It's great to be back working with Annette and joining the team at Reservoir," said Cutfather. "Their boutique feeling is essential and the personalized attention is awesome, considering you can easily get lost in the big world of publishing. I'm excited to continue my career with them."
