Today, Captured Tracks' Reptaliens share a new video for "Give Me Your Love," the 3rd single from their sophomore LP VALIS. "Give Me Your Love" is a quintessentialReptaliens' song, merging a dynamic variety of genres - krautrock-inspired synth, surf-rock guitar and funk-infused bass - to showcase their idiosyncratic dreampop. VALIS comes out April 26th and features the singles "Shuggie II" and "Venetian Blinds."
The fantastical, conspiracy-driven video for "Give Me Your Love" was directed by fellow Portland-based musician Bryson Cone and continues on the unconventional, imaginative path of their other visuals.
Cone offers the following of the video:
"'Give Me Your Love' is the secret surreal world inside every pet store in your weirdest dreams. For years, NASA has been planting cameras on distant planets and documenting jungle habitats. In this story, we discover what happens when one reptile store owner assembles a device to intercept those signals and synthesize virtual experiences for his customers. On the real, this is a secret sequel to "If You Want"... Recognize anybody? Is this what Cole Browning's future holds?
"I have always loved how Reptaliens have a pop simplicity and playfulness to everything they make, but with a strange subliminal presence evoking science fiction and conspiracy theories. The intention for this video was to try to represent that duality in some way. Mostly though, this was just the funnest creative activity ever with the most wonderful inspiring crew of people ever."
With FM-2030, their first LP, Reptaliens divulged tales from an etic: outsiders' perspective of cult kidnappings, alien abductions, and scifi speculations towards potential future realities. On VALIS, the lense is turned inwards and, through the looking glass, the 12 tracks provide an emic glimpse towards the feelings and situations of the subjective experience.
