In time for the 2018 National Association of Music Merchant (NAMM) 2018 tradeshow in Anaheim, singer songwriter Gussie Miller has released his debut album "Forever Plan" on CD. The album had previously been available on streaming services only, earning the distinction of being one of the first "digital only CDs" to appear on the Grammy ballot in the history of The Recording Academy. In conjunction with the release of the CD, Miller who has collaborated with artists including Cher, Seal, Gino Vannelli, Lavern Baker, Cher, Marcus Miller, Keb' Mo', Cleto Escobedo, Jay Gore and Mindi Abair is preparing to release his second album's single "Sunshine," for 2019 Grammy consideration.
"Forever Plan" features musicians Alex Alessandroni Jr, Jay Gore, Herman Matthews, Bobby Watson, Rick Keller, Valerie Davis-Bailey, Laura Dickinson, Cleto Escobedo II, of Cleto & The Cletones from Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Adam Dorn (AKA Mocean Worker). "Forever Plan" was recorded by ex-Prince Paisley Park staff recording engineer Ralph Sutton and Miller, with assistance from Jonathan Doster. The CD was mixed and co-produced by Michael Fennel at Universal Music Publishing Studio in Santa Monica, CA.
"Even with all the streaming services available, there is still a surprisingly large market for CDs," said Miller. "I chose to make 'Forever Plan' available on CD due to demand, and to coincide with this year's NAMM show," he added. As a NAMM member and manufacturer's representative, Miller honed his technical skills on set as a TV production sound engineer and broadcast audio engineer for NASA-JPL. This experience served him well as a technical representative for such companies as Steinberg GmbH, TC Electronic, Groove Tubes, and Sennheiser. Miller now consults as a "hired gun" on sales & marketing projects for NAMM member companies.
A former child actor, Miller was taken under the wings of several major recording studios at a young age. In his twenties, Miller provided vocals for commercials for brands such as such as Certs, Royal Caribbean, and CBS. Miller also appeared as a regular on the first Nickelodeon Variety Show, "America Goes Bananaz."
Throughout his career, he has been featured on songs such as "Rhythm of Romance," which appeared on Gino Vannelli's album, "Inconsolable Man." Miller also provided the live backing vocals for American rhythm and blues singer Lavern Baker's last major label issued album, "Live in Hollywood '91." His songs and vocals have been featured in television programs including Doogie Howser, M.D., Cop Rock, Family Matters, South of Sunset, and Everybody Hates Chris. More recently, Miller provided the backing vocals for the song "Milky Way" on jazz musician, composer and music producer Marcus Miller's album, "Free."
"Forever Plan" is available on streaming services iTunes, TIDAL, Spotify, Amazon Music, and more worldwide. Miller's release of the single "Sunshine," is expected in late February.
