"This is a song for those who feel different, like they don't fit in, and at one time or another, that's all of us," Rebecca says. "Your own 'Freak Soul' proudly shouts, 'I am not like everyone else, but I'm proud and strong.'"
The timely song is a message of acceptance and confidence, urging the listener to "love big and sing loud." It is a celebration of all that is unique in each of us.
I am a freak soul
I can't be locked down
I love big and I sing loud
I am a freak soul
I don't fit in
Say what you like but I'll just keep dancin'
This is the first release from Rebecca's forthcoming EP, (Fall 2015) produced by legendary guitarist, Johnny Garcia, perhaps best known for his work with both Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks. Breathing new life into the idea of a concept album, Rebecca penned the songs on the EP as part of her Human Experience Project. This musical series will explore common themes in life's journey. "The idea is to tell the stories of who we are and look at the experiences in life that tie us all together," Moreland says. While her original music serves as the anchor for the exploration of themes like friendship, ambition, change, empowerment and more, Rebecca also plans to utilize her background in journalism and communications to create complementary projects in other mediums.
Rebecca began to focus seriously on songwriting while in college as a means of self-expression and simply to make sense of her own journey of self-discovery. Her smart and soulful acoustic vibe has gained the attention of listeners around the country with previous works like the single, "Far From Heaven," which charted in FMQB's AC charts.
