Reba McEntire Nominated for Academy of Country Music Award

Broadway veteran Reba McEntire has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year, along with Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Lee Ann Womack. McEntire will also be hosting the awards ceremony on April 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be broadcasted live on CBS.

Sometimes referred to as "The Queen of Country", McEntire has sold 41 million records in the United States and more than 60 million worldwide. In the United States, she ranks as the seventh best-selling female artist in all genres and is the second best-selling female country artist of all time. On stage, McEntire has appeared as Annie Oakley in the 2001 revival of Annie Get Your Gun followed by the Carnegie Hall concert of South Pacific.

Other nominees for Academy of Country Music Awards include : Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, and Zac Brown Band.

The Academy of Country Music announced events celebrating "The Week Vegas Goes Country" the week of the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, honoring country music's top talent and the industry's hottest emerging talent, to be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network. In addition, the Academy will tape an all-star concert special, ACM PRESENTS: BROOKS & DUNN - THE LAST RODEO at the same location on Monday, April 19th, 2010 to air at a later date on the CBS Television Network.
