On Christmas Eve 1955 the four talented Lennon Sisters - Dianne (Dee Dee), Peggy, Kathy and Janet - made their debut appearance on The Lawrence Welk Show and became overnight sensations and one of the show's most beloved musical acts. The sisters were favorites on the program for 13 years from 1955 to 1968, and then went on to host their own musical variety series Jimmy Durante Presents the Lennon Sisters in 1969. The Lennon Sisters made numerous concert and television appearances with celebrities such as Andy Williams and Dinah Shore; appeared on game shows including the Family Feud, and performed for many years in Las Vegas. The quartet is now a trio - sisters Kathy, Janet and Mimi - and has been featured at the Welk Resort Champagne Theatre in Branson, MO and has toured across the country. The Lennon Sisters' enduring popularity has even spawned a Saturday Night Live spoof in recent years that sealed the groups' iconic status as American legends.
