Rapper Colette Carr to Release New Album 'Skitszo' in Five Installments

Rapper-Singer Colette Carr issues 20-song album, SKITSZO, in five, 4-song installments delivered every 2 months. Third installment - out this week - features collaborations with rap legend E-40 and Cherrytree Records label-mate Kev Nish of Far East Movement.

Malibu's Colette Carr is generating and innovating at the same time. The MTVU top video winner and Billboard Unsigned Chart topper has designed a way to release her prolific output topically, consistently and easily-digestible by issuing her debut album "Skitszo" in five 4-song installments every two months.

"It makes sense," explains Carr "to release my music as fast as I write and record it. The world moves at breakneck speed thanks to technology - exactly like my mouth moves thanks to my brain."

Having released SKITSZO Parts 1 and 2 to blog-acclaim, Colette unveils Part 3 this week and showcases her most versatile collection yet. From the tambo-pop of "Never Gonna Happen" and the Gabriel-meets-Asriel smurfamorphosis of "One by One" to the Hyphie-goes-Trap "Can't Touch This" ft. E-40 and the hypnotic techno-bounce of "The Finest Things" (co-written with Kev Nish of Far East Movement), Carr once again displays the breadth of her spinging (spitting + singing).

Touring with The Far East Movement on The Cherrytree-Turn Up the Love Tour in February 2013 was a blast for Carr but her SKITSZO installment schedule remained uninterrupted. "My album is being made in the way I live my life," shares Carr, "heavy on improv and light on planning - at least no planning beyond 2 months."

In this immediate and urgent way, Carr may have just found the way to create and deliver music at the exact pace in which her audience consumes it.
