Today, North Carolina-based quintet Rainbow Kitten Surprise unveiled details for their 2019 touring plans. The headlining run kicks off in Birmingham, AL, on January 25, and is highlighted by two-night stands at The 9:30 Club in Washington, DC (January 28-29) and Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, ON (February 4-5) as well as stops at legendary venues such as Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC (February 2) and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN (February 24). Presale for the 2019 tour begins on Tuesday, October 23, with the general on-sale starting Friday, October 26. The announcement comes as Rainbow Kitten Surprise closes out the fall leg of their "Friend, Love, Freefall" tour, with most shows selling out. Likewise, the spring leg of the tour saw all 38 dates sell out (50,000 tickets sold), featured 6 upgraded venues, and second nights added in New York (Brooklyn Steel), Los Angeles (The Fonda), and Atlanta (Terminal West). The newly announced dates continue to support Rainbow Kitten Surprise's Elektra debut full length "HOW TO: FRIEND, LOVE, FREEFALL," which amassed nearly 3 million streams in its first week alone upon its release earlier this year and has been met with critical acclaim from NPR, Vice, TIME, Billboard and more. Rainbow Kitten Surprise were recently profiled on "CBS This Morning Saturday" where they also delivered electrifying performances of "Hide" and "Fever Pitch." The appearance followed the band's release-week, late night television debut on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
In addition to their 2019 headline tour, Rainbow Kitten Surprise will also perform a run of benefit shows in their homestate of North Carolina. Dubbed "The Tar Heel Sessions," the band will donate one dollar from every ticket sold toward Hurricane Florence relief through The Red Cross. Dates include a two-night stand at Wilmington's Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on April 22-23, followed by shows at Asheville's Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on April 25 and Raleigh's Red Hat Amphitheater on April 27. Following a high profile performance at the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans next week, Rainbow Kitten Surprise will head overseas for a string of dates in Europe, most of which have already sold out. They'll close out the year at the Florida Man Music Festival in Orlando (November 30), Riptide Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale (December 1), and the 97x Next Big Thing radio show in Tampa (December 2).
