Rainbow Kitten Surprise Adds Dates To Wildly Popular 2019 Headline Tour

Today, North Carolina-based quintet Rainbow Kitten Surprise have announced additional dates for their wildly popular 2019 North American headline tour. The newly announced shows are highlighted by a west coast run of iconic venues, including Seattle's Paramount Theater, Portland's Roseland Theatre, Oakland's Fox Theater, and Los Angeles' Wiltern Theater. Presale begins on Wednesday, February 6th at 10am and ends on Thursday, February 7th at 10pm, with the general on-sale starting Friday, February 8th at 10am (all times local). The tour - already underway - includes sold out dates in Washington DC, Philadelphia, NYC, Chicago, Nashville, and more, with many markets adding second nights due to overwhelming demand. The cross-country trek will wrap up with the band's biggest headline show to date at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, on June 11. Full tour itinerary listed below. For the newly announced shows, Rainbow Kitten Surprise has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to support Equality NC, and their work dedicated to securing equal rights and protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) North Carolinians. From the band:"Same-sex couples in North Carolina won the freedom to marry in 2014, but LGBTQ+ people continue to be denied equal protection under the law in many other areas of life. Furthermore, LGBTQ+ persons in rural parts of NC have far fewer support systems than urban areas in the state. Equality NC is at the forefront of advocating for change and we are proud to be working with PLUS1 to support them."

This spring, Rainbow Kitten Surprise will be making their debut appearance on the iconic PBS music series Austin City Limits. The band will tape a full-set performance on May 6 at ACL's studio home in Austin, Texas to air later this year as part of the award-winning program's upcoming milestone Season 45. The longest-running music program in television history, Austin City Limits was recognized by Time magazine as one of 10 most influential music programs of all time. Past seasons have featured performances by musical legends, global superstars, and other acclaimed artists, including Willie Nelson, Robert Plant, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe, and more.

The band also recently unveiled the companion visual to their album track "It's Called: Freefall." The mind-bending, animated video made its world premiere on Adult Swim's "Toonami" and can now be viewed HERE on the band's YouTube channel. Directed by renowned animator Anthony Francisco Schepperd, the video is just the latest offering from the band's acclaimed Elektra label debut, "How To: Friend, Love, Freefall," available now for streaming/download HERE.

With chilling harmonies, dynamic instrumentation, and introspective lyrics, North Carolina's Rainbow Kitten Surprise has developed a genre-defying sound - as original and eclectic as the band's name - that takes influence from artists like Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon as much as Frank Ocean and Schoolboy Q. Released in 2018, the band's Elektra debut full length "HOW TO: FRIEND, LOVE, FREEFALL" - produced by GRAMMY award winner Jay Joyce (Cage The Elephant, Sleeper Agent) - amassed nearly 3 million streams in its first week alone and has been met with critical acclaim from Billboard, TIME, Vice, and NPR who described their sound as "...a mix of jam and indie and whatever else you can throw into the soup...very earnest, beautiful, political, loving rock n' roll."
