Singer Joanna Pitt and Musical Director Todd Schroeder will deliver a loving tribute to Karen and Richard Carpenter's rise to fame in one unforgettable show on Sunday, June 5th at a 2 PM matinee in Palm Desert at The Joslyn Center's Arthur Newman Theatre. The show will feature stories and beautiful melodies of one of the most popular and enduring vocal groups of the 1970's, which came to a sudden halt with the tragic death of lead singer Karen Carpenter.
The show, called "Remembering The Carpenters", has already garnered some rave reviews for previous performances in the Los Angeles area citing Pitt's deep love for American popular music and a sultry yet sweet sound all her own, that blends flirtation with class and passion with sophistication. This will mark Ms. Pitt's first appearance in the desert although her musical director, Todd Schroeder, has played the area numerous times including a recent show with Christel Alexander at The Arthur Newman Theatre. He's also performed at Carnegie Hall and the White House, with the Boston Pops and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has appeared on numerous television shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show.
"Remember The Carpenters" is being presented by Les Michaels' Life Is A Cabaret "Sundays In Summer" Series at The Arthur Newman Theatre located in The Joslyn Center, 73-750 Catalina Way in Palm Desert. Show time on Sunday afternoon, June 5th is 2 PM with doors opening at 1 PM, reservations for the Joslyn Center may be made at 760-325-2731.
