Norwegian born Rebekka Karijord has just announced the North American release of her second international album, WE BECOME OURSELVES. The deluxe edition of the record will be released on February 5th, 2015 via her label Control Freak Kitten Records and contains twelve exclusive and previously unreleased B-sides and alternative versions of the songs.

WE BECOME OURSELVES hints at a wide range of influences that include the likes of Cat Power, PJ Harvey, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Moondog, Robert Wyatt and, indeed, a significant amount of instrumental music that most likely accounts for its imaginative arrangements. It is, however, a record of unique personality, filled with organs, boys and men's choirs, piano, guitar, drums and Karijord's fierce, striking vocal delivery.

"I wanted to make a love album first, circling around my relationship to men," she explains. "I wanted it to be a romantic, huge, physical and powerful record, yet stripped and raw, with its flaws on its sleeve. I wanted to make an album about 'life and death': heartfelt and serious."

Originally from Sandnessjøen, just south of the Arctic Circle in Northern Norway, Karijord moved to Sweden a decade ago, where she has composed music for over 30 films, modern dance and theatre pieces, as well as writing plays and short stories. She has also acted in films and theatre since the age of 12. Cirkus Cirkör's international travelling performance, Wear It Like A Crown, is centered upon Karijord's song of the same title. She also provided all the additional music for the performance, which has now toured the world for four years, playing over 400 shows for 200,000 people.

Karijord is thrilled to bring a special deluxe version of WE BECOME OURSELVES to the US this February. Stay tuned for more exciting news!
