Life and Music is a new series of three intimate live concerts hosted by the prolific and eclectic multi-instrumentalist composer, arranger and improviser John Rodgers.

The series will explore the stories, influences, philosophy, and collaborative principles of some of Australia's premier musicians through music, improvisation and discussion. John will both chat to and accompany his guests during these Sunday afternoon concerts which will be presented this April and May.

The series will give music aficionados an opportunity to reach deeper into the feelings and ideas that motivate leading musicians William Barton, Genevieve Lacey, Scott Tinker, Vanessa Tomlin, Kate Miller Heidke and Keir Nuttall.

QPAC's Chief Executive John Kotzas said QPAC had a long association with John Rodgers and is pleased to support the Life and Music concert series.

"John Rodgers is one of Queensland's great living cultural assets and through the Life and Music series he has developed a really interesting opportunity for music fans to learn much more about these artists than is possible in a regular concert environment.

"The Australian musicians John will talk to and perform with are all internationally known and lauded. For audiences it's a chance to learn more about these artists and their work through another lens," said Mr Kotzas.

The three Life and Music concerts will be held at the Noël Nickson Performance Room in the University of Queensland's School of Music. The Nickson Room is renowned for its superb natural acoustics. Also the principal venue for the School of Music's weekly concert series, the Nickson Room has hosted some of the finest classical, jazz, world and eclectic musical styles. Situated near UQ's idyllic lakes, this is a much loved intimate venue for musicians and concert-goers alike.

With a limited seating capacity of 110 seats, the Nickson Room offers the perfect environment for the Life and Music concept. Tickets for this exclusive series (3 concerts) are on sale from Tuesday 19 February at 9.00am. To book go to http://www.qtix.com.au/package/183.aspx or phone 136 246.
