Five hip hop favorites will perform live in concert as part of the Pioneers of Hip Hop event March 7, 2014 held at the Greensboro War Memorial Auditorium at 7:00pm. VH1 Hip Hop Honoree Big Daddy Kane will headline the show with special guests Camp Lo, Lords of the Underground, Kwamé and Special Ed.
Big Daddy Kane is known for defining the term "lyricist" in the world of hip-hop. Along with the lyrical ingenuity he brought to the genre, he also introduced innovative live performances as well. Kane has several gold albums, endless music accolades including a Grammy award and he recently performed at the 2013 Soul Train Awards which aired on Centric TV and BET.
Most popular for their upbeat, horn driven single "Luchini AKA This Is It", Camp Lo is a legendary Hip Hop duo known as the "originators of the slang". Though their name might imply violent gangsta rap, Lords of the Underground are a platinum selling group who match socially conscious raps with hard hitting beats. Kwamé, the Boy Genius, not only actively performs as a member of the classic Hip Hop group The Alumni but he is also forging a formidable path for himself in the music industry by producing music for artists such as Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera and Keyshia Cole. Best known for his songs "I Got It Made" and "I'm the Magnificent" Special Ed still sets the standard today for up and coming emcees.o Online at www.greensborocoliseum.com
