While the annual CMA Music Festival was getting underway with the CMT Awards in downtown Nashville, on June 5, country artists were also entertaining fans in the "Performing Writer" acoustic concert series at The Fillin' Station nightclub in nearby Kingston Springs, Tennessee. Opening the youth portion of the evening was 14-year-old singer-songwriter sensation Emmy Russell, granddaughter of country music legend Loretta Lynn. She was followed by rising artist Easton Hamlin ("Thirty Miles from Nowhere") and, finally, teenage group Jetset Getset, which was recently named by the CMA among "Who New to Watch in 2013."
An array of adult singers rounded out the evening, including Sunshine (a.k.a. Brenda Cole), Daisy Mallory ("Do You Think of Me?" and "Train," with Vince Gill), Wes Bowker, and rising singer/songwriter Tommy Dalton, whose new single "Sweet" is being played on a growing number of radio stations.
The Performing Writer series features both new and established singers each Wednesday. For more information, visit www.PerformingWriter.com.
