Encore Series, Inc., presenter of Peter Nero and The Philly POPS, have announced the first concert series of the 2012/2013 Season will be held October 12-14, 2012 in Verizon Hall at The KimMel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. "Dancing and Romancing" is a tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, featuring nationally acclaimed dancers, Joan Hess and Kirby Ward.

"The 2012/2013 Season will begin with an incredible tribute to some of the greatest music of the 1930s and beyond," said Frank Giordano, President of ESI. "Our patrons will experience the best POPS orchestra performing under the direction of the best POPS Maestro, Peter Nero."

Our guest stars will dance to songs including: "The Carioca" by Vincent Youmans; "Slap That Bass" by George and Ira Gershwin; "Let's Face the Music and Dance" by Irving Berlin; "I Won't Dance" by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and Otto Harbach; "Shall We Dance" by George and Ira Gershwin. The Orchestra will also perform "The Ritual Fire Dance" by Manuel De Falla; and "Sabre Dance" by Aram Khachaturian.

Special added attraction will feature the spectacular Spanish guitarist, Pablo Sainz Villegas, who will make his Philadelphia debut as soloist in authentic Spanish folk and dance music.

Now in its 34th year, Peter Nero and The Philly POPS under the artistic direction of Grammy Award winning pianist and conductor Peter Nero and presented by Encore Series, Inc., is a one-of-a kind orchestra that performs a wide variety of musical genres in Verizon Hall at The KimMel Center for the Performing Arts and around the Tri-State region, entertaining audiences with its eclectic mix. The Philly POPS orchestra boasts a blend of talented musicians from the musically rich Philadelphia region.
