As a gesture of respect from one consummate showman to another, legendary musician PETER MURPHY has announced that he will be performing a special tribute to the late, great DAVID BOWIE on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at San Francisco's The Chapel. As the final show of his two week residency in which he will perform his solo albums in their entirety plus three "Mr. Moonlight" sets of Bauhaus music, Peter will honor the music of the Starman by performing songs selected from Bowie's catalog. Says Peter of the show, "Now that all and sundry have fallen off the David Bowie tribute band wagon, I thought I'd do my own."
Tickets for this special show go on sale TODAY at 2:00pm PT here:

Currently on week three of the U.S. leg of "The Ruby Tour: 40 Years of Bauhaus" (he plays Miami, FL tomorrow night), Peter along with his former Bauhaus bandmate David J. on bass has been reinvigorating the sleepy winter crowds with full-album performances of their groundbreaking debut album In A Flat Field (1980) augmented with choice selections from both Bauhaus and his own solo output, which Houston Chronicle characterized as "the haunting soundtrack to the dissolution."
With over two weeks of West Coast and Southwest shows under his belt, he will be circling the continent with shows in Miami (Feb. 6 @ The Ground), New York City (Feb. 14 @ Terminal 5), Detroit (Feb. 19 @ St. Andrews Hall), Los Angeles (Feb. 28 @ The Novo DTLA), among many other cities, before settling in San Francisco for his two week residency at The Chapel.

First emerging from the British punk and rock underground in the late 70s, Murphy (along with bandmates Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins) fronted the groundbreaking iconic rock band Bauhaus which spawned four iconoclastic and ultra-seminal albums as well as keystone singles "She's In Parties", "Silent Hedges", and, of course, "Bela Lugosi's Dead" before disbanding in 1983. Murphy launched a successful solo career that has yielded ten solo albums so far, including his latest Lion (2014) and the live album Bare-Boned and Sacred (2017). |
