Denny Laine, formerly of the Moody Blues and Wings, returns to Concord with special guest emcee Peter Asher for the Complete Band on the Run, a live on-stage performance of the classic album at Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord -- complete and unabridged on Sunday, October 25, at 7:30pm

At the height of the British Invasion, Denny Laine was one of the most recognizable voices on the entire British music scene. As the lead singer on the Moody Blues' recording of "Go Now" -- a worldwide multi-million seller -- he stood out in a large pack, and did so splendidly. His soulful, agonized lead vocal performance, coupled with Mike Pinder's chiming piano, proved irresistible on the radio. They toured with the Beatles in the UK and in America with the Animals and Peter & Gordon. At the end of 1965, Laine exited the group, to be replaced by Justin Hayward.

In 1971, Paul McCartney announced that he was forming his first permanent band since exiting the Beatles. The group, christened Wings, featured Paul and his wife Linda, with Denny Laine at the core on guitar, bass, and vocals. Wings started off with a Top 10 U.S. album called Wild Life. Red Rose Speedway followed and reached #1 on the US chart, starting a string of 5 straight number one albums for Wings, including Band on the Run, which sold over six million copies worldwide within a year of its release, spawning three U.S. Top 10 hits - "Helen Wheels", "Jet" and the title track. The singles alone occupied the U.S. chart for 45 weeks, while the album stayed on the charts for over 2 years. The album was in the Top 30 of the Billboard 200 as recently as 2010, when a remastered version of the album was released.

By far the most successful album involving any of the Beatles following their breakup, Band on the Run consisted of Paul McCartney on vocals, piano, drums, guitar, bass, and keys, Denny Laine contributing vocals, keys, acoustic, electric and bass guitars, and Linda on keys and vocals. Band on the Run transcended the era to become an album whose deep cuts such as "Let Me Roll It", "Picasso's Last Words", "1985", "Mrs. Vanderbilt", and "Bluebird" are better remembered --and played more often on classic rock radio-- than most hits of the day. Add to that the hits mentioned above, and you have an album where every song is now a classic.

We first came to know Peter Asher through the global smash "World Without Love" as one half of the British Invasion duo Peter & Gordon. Over the years, Asher moved effortlessly from his role with Peter & Gordon to Music Executive with the Beatles' Apple Records, then famously- as in cover of Rolling Stone magazine level famous- to Producer and Manager, handling the careers of James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt and a host of others.

Expect other Wings hits such as "Live and Let Die", and "Time to Hide" as well as Denny's legendary lead vocal on the Moody Blues classic "Go Now" as well as some insightful stories and maybe even a Peter and Gordon hit from Peter Asher to round out the show. Don't miss this rare chance to see two icons of the British Invasion live on stage together at the Capitol Center for the Arts, 44 North Main Street, Concord NH on Sunday, October 25th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased via the venue website at http://www.ccanh.com, via phone at 603-225-1111, at the Capitol Center Box Office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11am - 6pm and Saturday, 11am - 2pm.
