Parcels is a band on the ascent. The Berlin-based Australian band released their debut self-titled album via Kitsuné / Because Music / Caroline in October, following their Daft Punk co-written and produced single "Overnight" and U.S. TV debut on Conan in 2017. The five-piece group, all in their early 20's, has also already surpassed 75 million streams globally--including over 8 million views of their gorgeous, cinematic music videos--and has sold out sizable venues worldwide including London's Roundhouse, New York's Irving Plaza, and two nights at Los Angeles' Troubadour. They are set to return to North America in 2019 in support of Parcels, including festival performances at Coachella and Governors Ball and a headline tour that includes the NYC Irving Plaza sold out show, and sold out dates at Theatre Fairmount in Montreal and 7th St Entry in Minneapolis. Ambitious, infectious, and marking the arrival of a genre-crossing new band, Parcels' debut album is the brainchild of five young guys--Louie Swain (synth), Patrick Hetherington (synth), Noah Hill (bass), Anatole Serret (drums) and Jules Crommelin (guitar)--who have appeared as if beamed from another planet. Parcels follow an eclectic thread from The Beach Boys and Chic through to heroes like Steely Dan, all the while blending elements of electronica, funk and tirelessly-drilled live musicianship into classic but contemporary pop. The group also has a maniacal taste for perfection when it comes to production, composition and arrangement, with a live show so accomplished that Daft Punk offered to work with them on the spot--the first time the legendary duo have chosen an emerging act to add to their list of collaborators, which also includes the likes of Kanye, The Weeknd and Pharrell.
The twelve tracks on Parcels were self-produced and written by the band in Berlin. The album's singles include "Tieduprightnow" which mixes crate-digging disco grooves, a taut indie sensibility and effortlessly uplifting harmonies into immaculate modern pop; the disco and funk-infused "Lightenup"; and "beach party jam" (Stereogum) "Bemyself." Parcels most recently released "Withorwithout" along with a video that celebrates the American slasher film genre and stars Milla Jovovich. Watch the full video here: https://youtu.be/JUelBEuz258.
