Boston's Palehound, lead by fierce vocalist and prolific creative force Ellen Kempner, will release the sophomore album, A Place I'll Always Go, June 16 on Polyvinyl Record Co. The collection is a frank look at love and loss, cushioned by indelible hooks and gently propulsive, fuzzed-out rock. She previously revealed lead single "Flowing Over" which rides a sweetly hooky guitar line, with Kempner using her upper register as an anxious vocal counterpoint to the riff's driving, infectious melody. A counterpoint to the perpetuation of tension in "Flowing Over", the bass-heavy "Room" is a song that describes a blossoming love and finding the light that gradually dawns after tragedy.

Kempner discussed the tempestuous journey which sparked her writing process with Stereogum in the first in-depth interview for A Place I'll Always Go today.

"Room" premiered with FADER today and is available to post/shareHERE.

A Place I'll Always Go channels feelings of anxiety - heart-racing moments both exhilarating and crushing - into songs that feel well-worn and comforting. As Kempner explains, "A lot of it is about loss and learning how to let yourself evolve past the pain and the weird guilt that comes along with grief." The album was recorded at Brooklyn's Thump Studios with the assistance of Gabe Wax, who also recorded Dry Food.

Since forming in 2014, Palehound-Kempner, drummer Jesse Weiss (Spook The Herd), and new bassist Larz Brogan-have taken their plainspoken, technique-heavy indie rock from the basements of Boston to festivals around the world. A Place I'll Always Go builds on the promise of Palehound's critically acclaimed 2015 album Dry Food with songs that breathe Kempner's evolved maturity, while asserting her core artistic fire.
