Pace Presents Acoustic Underground featuring PHOEBE LYNG, MELANIE PENN, ANDREW ROSE GREGORY (of The Gregory Brothers) at The Michael SchimMel Center for the Arts. Doors at 6:30pm, Show at 7:30pm. Tickets - $20 - ON SALE NOW

Acoustic Underground is PACE Presents' platform for the hottest, most talented new singer/songwriters in the New York area. The premiere Acoustic Underground showcase will feature Andrew Rose Gregory, Melanie Penn and Phoebe Lyng.

Phoebe Lyng was born and mostly raised in Manhattan when she wasn't on tour with Broadway actors playing the role of her parents. Her unique perspective and insights lead to the creative release of her first album Unadorned in 2008. Since then she performs all over the world, and can be found singing regularly at NYC venues including Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Piano's, Googie's Lounge (Above The Living Room), and all the others. When Phoebe isn't singing to the glorification of her own brand, she believes deeply in generously using her art toward philanthropic causes. Her song "New York's Got an Old Soul" was featured on the Redeemer Forum Singer-Songwriters CD benefiting Hope for New York, a nonprofit which provides volunteer and financial resources to over forty organizations reaching the poor and marginalized of NYC. Her new song "Mess" is part of Exposing Darkness: Artists Bring Trafficking to Light which will be released October 5.

After almost a decade working steadily in New York theatre:

Melanie Penn departed from the Broadway scene and released her first independent singer / songwriter record, Wake Up Love, in 2010. To her delight, people liked it, bought it and wrote about it. Christianity Today called the album a "stellar debut" and World magazine said that Melanie "exemplifies the latest generation of below-the-radar songwriters ... intelligent but not esoteric, richly but not over-produced." Melanie hopes that was a compliment. This fall she will release her second album, Hope Tonight, again working with Nashville producer Ben Shive (Sara Groves, Andrew Peterson). Melanie lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and performs regularly in venues around New York City and in the Northeast.

Andrew Rose Gregory grew up the son of an erstwhile Baptist minister in the mountains of Virginia. He now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Although he has played hundreds of shows across America as a solo artist, he is best known as one of the creators of the viral YouTube sensations Auto-Tune the News and Songify This along with the rest of The Gregory Brothers.
