Outside Lands Announces The Barbary's Comedy & Improv Line-Up For 2018 Image

Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly and Starr Hill are thrilled to announce the 2018 Outside Lands comedy and improv line-up for the festival's renowned Barbary tent. Co-curated by SF Sketchfest, this year's lineup is headlined by three of the funniest women in the business: Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Game Night star Chelsea Peretti, 2 Dope Queens' Phoebe Robinson and the unstoppable Michelle Wolf.

Another highlight includes a live version of the podcast Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness--the weekly podcast hosted by the Queer Eye and Gay of Thrones personality, where the audience is invited to come on a journey as he gets curious about anything and everything under the sun. Also, look out for a special installment of Hanging with Paul Scheer ("The League" / How Did This Get Made) as the comedian gathers his friends for a unique one of a kind round table show--think of it as the adult version of "Show and Tell."

The Barbary will also feature Red Room Orchestra who will recreate the soundtracks from Wes Anderson's beloved films, with score cues and pop hits from Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket, Isle of Dogs and more. The orchestra will feature Marc Capelle (American Music Club), Yuka C. Honda (Cibo Matto), Toby Dammit (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), Tom Ayres (Persephone's Bees), Allyson Baker (Dirty Ghosts), Andy Cabic (Vetiver), Bart Davenport (Bart & The Bedazzled), Karina Denike (Dance Hall Crashers), Daniel Fabricant (Nice Guy Trio), Hether Fortune (Wax Idols), Tom Griesser (Marcus Shelby Orchestra), Todd Roper (Cake), a string quartet featuring Dina Maccabee, Evan Price, Irene Sazer and Jess Ivry, and more.

Named for San Francisco's notorious Barbary Coast, The Barbary comedy and variety tent has famously featured the top names in comedy, storytelling, music, improv, and general weirdness. The Barbary's turn-of-the-century Belgian decor - inspired by the world famous Spiegeltent Victoria - provides a perfect setting for a remarkable line-up of old school (but forward-thinking) variety entertainment. The world's only gourmet music festival, the 11th annual Outside Lands takes place August 10th - 12th in San Francisco's historic Golden Gate Park and feature music performances by The Weeknd, Florence + The Machine, Janet Jackson, Odesza, Future, Beck, Portugal. The Man, DJ Snake and much more. As noted by The Guardian, fans "come for the music and stay for the food." The festival's 2018 culinary program will continue to expand and this year fans will have access to over 200 menu items from the best Bay Area restaurants, hundreds of Northern Californian wines and beers and a collection of the region's best cocktail bars. Outside Lands' distinct food and drink experiences that excite the senses will also return, including Taste of the Bay Area, Wine Lands, Beer Lands, The Back Wine, Cocktail Magic, and GastroMagic. The Outside Lands 2018 food and drink lineup will feature 83 restaurants, 41 wineries, and 30 brewers from the Bay Area and throughout Northern California.

Outside Lands continues to be an environmental leader in the festival scene expanding its efforts to divert more waste than any other festival of its size. In 2017, an incredible 91% of last year's waste was composed of reusable, recyclable, and compostable materials. As part of Outside Lands' ongoing commitment to the local community, the festival has contributed over $20 million to the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department and has a $75 million dollar economic impact on the Bay Area each year.
