Orion StarChild to Premiere Astrology Inspired Debut Album 'Firestarter' in 2018 Image

Meeting this particularly tumultuous time in our history with power, transcendence and vision, Producer/Vocalist Orion StarChild is at the forefront of a musical and cultural Renaissance. For the past three years, the veteran producer and artist development exec has been crafting the material for a trilogy release of "space rock" music starting with volume one: Firestarter.

Orion plans to release the album song by song to correspond with the signs of the astrological Zodiac. Each song portrays a different star sign, kicking off with the first single "Like My Status," or "Aquarius."

For the record, Orion enlisted star players Thad Debrock (David Byrne, Jonas Brothers), Mark Plati (David Bowie), Jonathan Maron (Maxwell) and Doug Yowell (Melissa Etheridge, Suzanne Vega), as well as a entire crowd of singers for the backing vocals. Orion estimates that more than 12,000 hours have gone into the production of the first album alone.

"I've always been a casual follower of Astrology, but I never really knew much about it. As I was writing Firestarter I realized the complexities of the Zodiac signs mirror the diversity of humanity beautifully. I became obsessed."

Harkening back to an era in popular music when icons like David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, and Freddie Mercury used their prominence to challenge the status quo, Firestarter represents a nostalgically inspired movement into a new era of creative expression. A cinematic hybrid of space pop, 60s era protest rock, and modern EDM, Firestarter is already being hailed as a "game changer."

"The best way to get past a tough issue is to look from the outside in. From the stars down. So much of the conflict that is taking place-in politics, in culture, in our own personal lives-is ultimately a good thing, even though it doesn't seem that way right now. It helps me to look up at the stars every once in a while and remember that everything we're dealing with is temporary-our issues are on the smaller scale of things."

Orion is the VP of A&R and Creative Development for Lynn Verlayne Studio, the pioneer Artist Development Company formed by industry icon and trailblazer Lynn Verlayne. As VP, Orion has a front row seat to the changing industry landscape, and sees profound potential for artists like never before.

"I believe a Renaissance is coming, and it's time that artists unite underneath that banner. I want to create a sense of belonging and community for artists, where they're encouraged to create together for the betterment of the world. If we continue to channel our fears and frustrations in such unhelpful ways - wasting hours arguing on social media, screaming at our phones, spreading a fire of intolerance and division to each other - What gets resolved? If we choose to, we can create a brilliant future together-our potential is endless. What do we want our legacy to be?"

Firestarter is available next year via IAMASTARCHILD.COM where you can join the movement, sign up for exclusive updates, and learn more about the star signs.

"We are all made of star dust, so that makes us all star children, star seeds, star kids, however you want to say it. One race - one family. We'll get through this and come out stronger on the other side. When the day comes that we see a sister or brother standing across from us instead of an enemy, the war will be over."

Lynne Verlayne Studio was founded during the slow collapse of the global music industry, as labels were forced to restructure their operations to adapt to the evolving demands of consumers. Verlayne's mission was initially to provide world class creative development to artists around the globe, the kind of development that was a common major label practice in the 80s and 90s. LVS remains the only company of its kind offering artists unparalleled direct access to industry professionals. The company boasts a team of industry heavyweights, many of whom are behind artists like P!nk, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Coldplay, Sia and more.
