Billboard.com reports that Olivia Wilde has been tapped to direct the "Dark Necessities" music video by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Olivia first ventured into the field of directing with the dreamy music video for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' "No Love Like Yours" which was entirely shot on an iPhone 6S.

Olivia and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers have teased at the project on social media, releasing photos from the set, including a photo of Olivia attempting to hide her baby bump, as well as one of drummer Chad Smith playing "at twice the normal speed," per the director's request.

No word on the release date of the music video but we will update this story when the date is announced.

Olivia Wilde is an American actress, model, producer, director, activist and entrepreneur. She is well known for her role as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley on the award winning television series House (2007-12) and her roles in Tron: Legacy (2010), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), Her (2013), Drinking Buddies (2013), and Rush (2013). She currently stars in HBO's critically acclaimed rock 'n' roll drama series Vinyl (2016).

Red Hot Chili Peppers, also sometimes shortened to "The Chili Peppers" or abbreviated as "RHCP", are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock. When played live, their music incorporates elements of jam band due to the improvised nature of much of their performances. Currently, the band consists of founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals) and Flea (bass), longtime drummer Chad Smith; and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in late-2009, replacing John Frusciante. Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the best-selling bands of all time with over 80 million records sold worldwide, have been nominated for sixteen Grammy Awards, of which they have won six and are the most successful band in alternative rock radio history currently holding the records for most number one singles (12), most cumulative weeks at number one (85) and most top-ten songs (25) on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.[1] In 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
