Celebrated disco, R&B, soul and funk entertainers from the 1970s and 1980s, including GQ, Zapp, Tierra, Force MD's, Atlantic Starr, The Delfonics, The Deele, Heatwave, The Chi-Lites, and The Floaters, will perform their best-loved hits at the 105.7 Old School Love Affair Concert at the Orleans Arena on Saturday, Feb. 10.
Formed in the Bronx, N.Y., the disco and R&B band GQ found success in 1979 with their hit single "Disco Nights (Rock-Freak)" from their debut album "Disco Nights," which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single went on to win the group an American Music Award as well. Throughout the band's career, GQ has released five albums and multiple top hits, including "Zone," "I Do Love You," "Make My Dreams a Reality" and "Standing Ovation."
Zapp burst into the music scene in 1977, bringing their signature funk sound to fans across the globe. Since forming in the late '70s, the band has produced six studio albums, twenty-two singles and two compilations albums. The albums "Zapp," "Zapp II" and "The New Zapp IV U" became certified Gold-selling records. Zapp's music has been influential in the electro subgenre of funk and inspired the creation of G-Funk music. The group continues to impress fans with their classic hits "More Bounce to the Ounce," "Be Alright," "A Touch of Jazz (Playin' Kinda Ruff Part II)" and "Dance Floor."
Celebrated Latin R&B group Tierra started their musical career in East Los Angeles in 1972. The vocal group quickly became known for their ability to blend rock, pop, jazz R&B and salsa in their music, producing their classics "Together," "Gonna Find Her," "Memories" and "Zoot Suit Boogie." The band continues to bring their smooth and soulful sounds to audiences around the world, performing in prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall.
Rounding out the show's lineup are Force MD's, Atlantic Starr, The Delfonics, The Deele, Heatwave, The Chi-Lites, and The Floaters.
