The excitement is building while Manhattan awaits the tribute concert entitled: Giovanni Consiglio, a Vocal Phenomenon. The event will take place October 1, 2010 at the New York Library of the Performing Arts, in Lincoln Center, New York.
Puglia Center of America has coordinated this event with the purpose of honoring one of their own; the internationally acclaimed Maestro Giovanni Consiglio. Highlights of the evening's function will include projections and recordings of the Maestro's brilliant carrier. Maestro Consiglio will be presented with the Region of Puglia's Medal of Honor for Artistic Merit and Key to the City of San Marco la Catola, the smal town in Foggia's hinterland where the Maestro was born. Another unanticipated honor will be the proclamation by Scott Stinger, President of the County of
Manhattan, declaring October 1, 2010 "Giovanni Consiglio Appreciation Day" throughout
Manhattan.
Maestro Consiglio and wife Marion, will be in the company of many friends and special guests
which will include Michele Fascia, Mayor of San Marco la Catola and the famous American, opera
conductor and composer
Anton Coppola. For over fifty years, Maestro Coppola has conducted
orchestras throughout the world, among his many accomplishments he has composed the famous
opera Sacco & Vanzetti, and conducted the movie sound tracks of The Godfather III and Dracula,
directed by his Oscar winning nephew
Francis Ford Coppola.
The concert will feature renowned tenor Luciano Lamonarca (President of Puglia Center of
America), tenor and Maestro Consiglio's devoted student Enzo Pizzimenti, soprano Jessica Slatkoff
Artega, mezzo soprano Erika Person. The performers will be accompanied by Georgianna Pappas.
The concert will be hosted by Bill Russo.
